Meet Guest Macon Dunnagan:
In 1999, a stroke of luck awarded Macon Dunnagan two free tickets to South Africa, setting in motion a journey that would change his life forever. With unwavering determination, Macon seized the opportunity and embarked on a path less traveled. In a remarkable feat, January 2000 saw Macon standing triumphantly atop Kilimanjaro, Africa’s towering pinnacle and the world's tallest free-standing mountain at an astounding 19,340 feet (5,895 meters). This accomplishment was all the more awe-inspiring, considering his prior experience had never taken him beyond 4,000 feet, and he had never even spent a night in a sleeping bag.
Fast forward to June 2023, Macon completed his 50th summit of Kilimanjaro and has penned abook, “Sons of Kilimanjaro”. Today, Macon's boundless enthusiasm for exploration has found its purpose as he leads others on transformative voyages through a partnership with Zara Tour, based in Tanzania.
